Vol. 251 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospitals and Sanatoria.

252.

asked the Minister for Health the number of sanatoria and hospitals (and the number of beds in each case) sanctioned by his Department and completed between February, 1948 and April, 1951; the balances in the Hospitals Trust Fund at these two dates; the total expenditure under the fund over the period; and the total State expenditure on these contracts.

(1) Hospitals and sanatoria (including major conversions and extensions) sanctioned by the Department of Health and completed in the period February, 1948 to April, 1951.

(Note:— As the events involved occurred approximately 20 years ago, it would be difficult to supply absolutely accurate information without examination of very many old records no longer in use. It may be taken, however, that the list below is, broadly speaking, accurate and comprehensive. The projects listed relate only to schemes resulting in the provision of hospital beds. They do not include ancillary hospital works, e.g. staff homes, boiler plant, sanitary accommodation, etc.).
