asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what proposals, if any, are before his Department for the establishment of industrial undertakings in County Mayo.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Industrialisation.
I am aware of two proposals for the establishment of industry in County Mayo. These proposals are being examined by the Industrial Development Authority. As details of industrial proposals are confidential, I am unable to give further particulars.
In addition, six firms in County Mayo have been approved for assistance under the Small Industries Programme since 1st April, 1970, and a further 19 applications under the programme are under consideration by the Industrial Development Authority.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that in February-March, 1970, a major textile industry was to be established in Castlebar, County Mayo; and if the IDA have had any further inquiries from any source regarding the siting of any industry in Castlebar, County Mayo.
I am aware of the textile project to which the Deputy refers. Early in 1970, the promoters decided to postpone the establishment of the factory for at least two years.
I understand from the IDA that they have had an inquiry regarding the possible location of another factory in Castlebar but I am not in a position to give the Deputy any details at this stage.
