asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what the Government's intentions are relating to the proposed introduction of amended price control legislation.

Legislation to extend the scope of the Prices Acts is at present being prepared in my Department. I hope to introduce this legislation in the House in the present session.

andMr. Timmins asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (a) the number of applications for permission to increase prices and charges received from 1st November, 1970, to the latest date for which figures are available; (b) the number granted; (c) the number refused and (d) the number under consideration.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:
