The Report of the Public Services Organisation Review Group was published on 24th September, 1969. The Government have, as already announced, taken various decisions in principle on recommendations in the report and are now proceeding to put into effect the implementation programme proposed in Chapter 17 in which the first priority is the establishment of the Public Service Department. The necessary legislation for the establishment of the new Department will be introduced early in the present session and I intend to make a comprehensive statement when moving the Second Stage of the enabling Bill.
