Vol. 251 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Beef Incentive Scheme.

36.

andMr. Timmins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will abolish the regulation under the Beef Incentive Scheme whereby consumption of milk from herds owned by institutions such as boarding schools, hospitals, et cetera, is actually regarded as an indirect sale, thereby depriving these institutions of grants under the scheme.

In the case of institutions of the kind mentioned by the Deputies the particular circumstances of each institution are taken into account. Favourable consideration is given where the institution in question maintains more cows than is necessary for the needs of the institution and where it does not dispose of milk commercially.
