Vol. 251 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dunmore East Fishery Protection.

60.

asked the Minister for Defence if one of the recently acquired fishery protection vessels will be stationed at the most important fishery harbour of Dunmore East, County Waterford, during the main fishing season; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The permanent station of the three coastal minesweepers which have been acquired and of the fishery protection vessel for which a contract has been placed will be the Naval base, Haulbowline. Having regard to maintenance requirements, it would not be feasible to station one of these vessels permanently at any other location. It is envisaged that a vessel will operate in the Dunmore East area as fishing activities there demand and weather permits.
