Vol. 251 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Northern Ireland Airline.

19.

Mr. O'Donnell

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will indicate the degree of participation by Aer Lingus in Northern Ireland.

Aer Lingus operate daily scheduled services between Belfast, Dublin and Shannon. The company have had discussions recently with a number of Northern Ireland businessmen who wish to set up a Northern Ireland based airline. Aer Lingus may be invited to take a minority share and to provide the management and technical operation. The proposal is still under discussion and I understand that a major consideration will be the degree of support given to the project in Northern Ireland.
