Vol. 251 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Grants.

50.

asked the Minister for Local Government the mileage in each county classed as national primary roads; and the grants paid during the years 1969-70 and 1970-71, if available, for the repair and improvement of these roads.

This is the first year in which the classification national primary road is used for grant purposes. The total allocation in the current year for the upkeep and improvement of these roads is £3,581,000 of which £2,437,235 has been paid to date.

The information requested as to the mileage of national primary roads is in the form of a tabular statement and I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.
