Vol. 251 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Housing.

55.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of tenders for the erection of dwelling houses he has received for sanction from Mayo County Council over the past three months; and the position regarding such tenders.

Mayo County Council submitted proposals for the acceptance of tenders for 20 rural cottages to my Department last November. As the tender prices were based on quotations which had been received by the council in May or June, 1969, the council were asked on the 24th November, 1970, to submit up-to-date tender prices for the cottages. Following discussion locally between officers of my Department and of the council, up-to-date prices were submitted for four cottages and their acceptance was approved by me on the 15th February, 1971. Negotiations for the remaining 16 cottages are being pursued by the housing authority.

56.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department has any proposals from Mayo County Council for the provision of houses at Bangor-Erris, County Mayo.

The answer is "No".
