Vol. 252 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ard-Fheis Speech.

4.

asked the Taoiseach whether any reply to Major Chichester-Clark's Stormont reply to his Ard-Fheis speech is under consideration.

I refer the Deputy to the statement I made on 25th February. As I indicated in that statement I am hopeful to see the beginning as soon as possible of expert examination of practical matters in economic development in which co-operation would be to the benefit of both parts of the country.

Does the Taoiseach foresee meetings between officials on this matter at an early date?

No such meetings are arranged but I mentioned immediately after Major Chichester-Clark's observations on my speech that I wanted to see these meetings held as soon as possible. This again would be a further stimulation to some action on the other side.
