Vol. 252 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensionable Local Service.

56.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether Army service, which is allowed for incremental purposes, will be allowed in the assessment of pension by local authorities.

The extent to which Defence Force service may be reckoned for pension purposes in the computation of pensionable local service is determined by law. Very broadly, only service in the Defence Forces which interrupts the continuity of pensionable local service is reckonable.
