Vol. 252 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answer. - Widows' Tax-Free Allowances.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will amend the income tax code to provide that the minimum tax-free allowance of a widow will be the same as that of a married man.

As alterations in income tax allowances are primarily budgetary matters to be taken into account together with other budgetary considerations at the appropriate time, the Deputy will appreciate that I am not in a position to make any statement in this matter at this stage.
