The information sought by the Deputy is available only in relation to chief executives of State companies under the aegis of my Department who are appointed by the Government, namely the chairman of the Electricity Supply Board and the managing director of Bord na Móna. The salary of the chairman of the ESB is £8,190 a year and the salary of the managing director of Bord na Móna is £5,850 a year.
The chief executives of the other State enterprises for which I am responsible are employees of the boards who, under the relevant statutes, have sole responsibility for their appointment, remuneration and conditions of employment.
