Vol. 252 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Bus Services.

29.

asked the Minister for Education if he will arrange that the school bus will collect pupils for Harestown national school at the entrance to Killineer cottages rather than at the Cockle road, County Louth as at present.

I have been advised that if the transport service to Harestown NS were extended as proposed the school bus would have to turn on the main Drogheda-Dunleer road thereby jeopardising the safety of the children due to the speed of the traffic on this road. In any event the Killineer children have only .6 of a mile to walk to meet the school bus, .5 of which is on the old roadway not now used by vehicles. I do not consider this distance excessive.
