Vol. 252 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maize Allocations.

32.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries whether he or An Bord Gráin decides on maize allocations; and what becomes of the allocations to firms who go out of the compounding business.

Allocations of maize to individual users are made by me. Where new or additional allocations are sought the recommendations of An Bord Gráin are obtained. Where my Department becomes aware that a manufacturer holding a maize allocation has ceased production of feeding-stuffs, the allocation in question is either discontinued or transferred to the person or persons who have taken over the business of the allottee concerned.
