Vol. 252 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers (Resumed). - Hospital Nursing Committees.

4.

asked the Minister for Health the number of hospitals in the greater Dublin area which have set up nursing committees; and the number of hospitals which have failed to date to do so.

Eight hospitals coming under the administration of the Eastern Health Board within the greater Dublin area set up such committees following on a circular issued by my Department. From inquiries I have made in relation to the voluntary hospitals, I understand that 17 in the area have a form of staff relations committee of one kind or another relating to nurses' problems. Twelve voluntary hospitals have not so far established committees but in the case of three of these hospitals I understand that negotiations are in train with a view to establishing committees.
