Vol. 253 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hotel Grants.

19.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of new hotels which have been approved for grants from June, 1967, to April, 1971; and the number of grants which are outstanding.

Grants for hotel development become payable when the approved works have been carried out to the satisfaction of Bord Fáilte. I am informed by the board that a total of 174 new hotel projects were approved by them for grant purposes in the period June, 1967 to April, 1971. Twenty-two of these projects have been completed and finally certified for grant payment while the remainder are either in the course of construction or are in the pipeline. In 19 cases the full grants have been paid and in the case of the remaining three hotels the board have still to pay portions of the grants.
