97.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of people in County Meath who will be deprived of unemployment assistance under the Unemployment Assistance (Employment Period) (No. 2) Order, 1971.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle Questions Nos. 96 and 97 are being taken together.

The employment period under the order referred to runs from 14th April, 1971 to 16th November, 1971. Statistics of the numbers of persons falling to be disallowed unemployment assistance under the order will not be available until the employment period has ended. The statistics are not maintained on the basis of county of residence.

The numbers of applications for unemployment assistance which have been disallowed so far under the order in respect of persons registered at local offices of the Department of Labour in the counties in question are:— County Kildare: 70; County Meath: 32. It will be understood that some of these persons may not reside in the specified county and that, conversely, there may be persons resident in either county whose applications have been disallowed but who are registered at a local office in some other adjacent county and are, therefore, not included in the figures given.
