Vol. 253 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Motor Taxation Office.

111.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the inconvenience caused to Dublin car owners, who wish to tax their cars, through the difficulty of getting to Coleraine Street and the subsequent delay there; and whether he is considering recommending any alternative in this regard.

The provision and location of motor taxation offices are matters primarily for the local licensing authorities. I do not accept that undue inconvenience of the nature suggested by the Deputy is experienced by persons taxing their cars in Dublin. The arrangements for taxing vehicles in Dublin and other centres, including the possibility of computerisation, are under examination. It will, however, be some time before the results of this examination are available.
