Vol. 254 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - UN Peace Keeping Force.

7.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ireland's present financial claim on the United Nations for its peace keeping force; if Ireland has been asked to waive its claims; and, if so, what the Government's intentions are in this matter.

Claims against the United Nations to date in respect of extra and extraordinary expenses incurred as a result of Ireland's participation in the United Nations peace keeping force in Cyprus total £2,732,376 of which £2,264,560 has so far been reimbursed. There remains outstanding, therefore, a sum of £467,726.

No request has been made to the Government to waive any claim on the United Nations.

Did the Minister not see reports in the papers in this connection?

Yes. There was nothing further.
