Vol. 254 No. 3

Questions—Ceisteanna. Oral Answers. - Offaly School.

15.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the provision of a new national school at Shinrone, County Offaly; and when he expects that work is likely to commence on the erection of the school.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to him on 18th February, 1971.

The Commissioners of Public Works have just furnished an estimate of the cost of the larger size school now proposed to cater for the pupils of the existing Shinrone and Pike National Schools. Satisfactory evidence of title is awaited in respect of two of the three plots of ground which comprise the site for the new school. When such evidence of title is available for the entire site and agreement has been reached as to the local contribution the appropriate grant will be sanctioned.

I am unable to say at this stage when work on the erection of the new school is likely to commence.
