Vol. 254 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - CIE Superannuation Scheme.

21.

asked the Minister for Finance whether his Department has yet replied to the communication from the Transport Salaried Staffs Association seeking permission to create with CIE a suspense account in connection with the CIE Superannuation Scheme, 1951 until such time as the necessary ministerial orders are made to alter the provisions of the scheme.

The Minister for Transport and Power is primarily responsible for the CIE superannuation scheme, 1951 and I have, therefore, referred the communication in question to him.

What was the date of the communication?

13th May.

This relates to a matter which has been dragging on since October, 1969. It will soon be two years since the discussion started and the only progress is that one Minister sends a letter to another Minister.

The delay is being caused by the CIE group of unions. Let the Deputy pass that message on.

I will see that they get the record.
