Vol. 254 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - O'Connell Bridge Underpass.

104.

asked the Minister for Local Government what progress has been made in connection with the proposal to construct an underpass for pedestrians at O'Connell Bridge, Dublin; when work on the project is likely to commence; and whether proposals to construct underpasses at any other points along O'Connell Street are under consideration.

Mr. Molley

Dublin Corporation have a consulting engineer engaged in the design and planning of pedestrian underpasses at O'Connell Bridge. I cannot say when construction is likely to commence. The corporation have also indicated they have in mind the provision of a subway between North Earl Street and Henry Street but a proposal has not been made to me in the matter.
