Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Offices.

156.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether any decision has been made on the location of further regional Dublin Corporation offices in the city area; if he will give their location; and the criteria adopted in deciding on their location.

In response to a recommendation which I made to him the Dublin city and county manager agreed to set up in Ballymun a local branch of the corporation's housing department which would provide a full range of housing advisory services. The branch office was opened on Monday 21st instant.

The Ballymun experiment is in the nature of a pilot project and the question of making similar arrangements in other areas where the corporation has major housing estates will be considered in the light of experience there.

The extension of the arrangements will also fall for consideration in the general context of the suggestions in the White Paper on Local Government about the establishment of advisory area committees and local community councils.
