Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Occupational Health Hazards.

51.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will give details of the agency currently conducting the survey on occupational health hazards in industry; and when this survey will be completed.

The survey is being carried out by a team of industrial inspectors of my Department, specially trained and equipped for the purpose. Medical experts have been engaged to give advice and guidance on the medical aspects of the survey which will be a continuing function of the industrial inspectorate. The first phase of the programme, which is estimated to take until 1974, is concerned mainly with the hazards from ionising radiations and from certain atmospheric contaminants.
