Vol. 255 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Holdings.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in view of the fact that farmers in the Gleann, Oughterard area, County Galway, have uneconomic holdings, steps will be taken to acquire, divide and allot to deserving applicants any land that becomes available in that area.

The determination of land to be acquired is a matter reserved exclusively to the commissioners. Proceedings at present in progress for compulsory acquisition of a 33-acre holding in the Gleann area have reached the stage where an appeal lodged against the price fixed by the Land Commission is awaiting determination by the appeal tribunal.
