Vol. 255 No. 7

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Pig Prices.

50.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if arrangements will be made to increase the guaranteed price for pigs so as to compensate pig producers for recent increases in the price of feeding stuffs which were allowed by the Department of Industry and Commerce.

The guaranteed minimum prices for pigs were increased as from 3rd May last and I do not consider that the recent small increase in feeding stuffs prices warrants a further increase now. I am, however, looking into the question of an autumn increase in minimum pig prices to meet the situation arising from the increase in the price of this year's native barley crop.
