asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of each of the years 1969-70 and 1970-71 the total State allocation to Tipperary South Riding County Council under each of the following headings: roads, public assistance, sanitary services, housing and general purposes.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

NOTES:

1. Details of the figures included in the table are as follows:—

Roads—allocations from the Road Fund and under the Local Improvements Scheme.

Sanitary Services—capital allocations for water and sewerage schemes and for miscellaneous services.

Housing—capital allocations for local authority housing and for the making of house-purchase and reconstruction loans.

2. Subsidy payments to the local authority for housing and sanitary services schemes are not included in the table.

3. Supplementary grants made by Tipperary (SR) County Council are financed from revenue.

4. There are no grants or other allocations from Central Funds for expenditure by local authorities on public assistance.

5. Information on State grants towards General Purposes expenditure—which are made by a number of different Departments—is not yet available in the Department.
