I understand from the Eastern Health Board that the woman referred to has been accommodated, with her seven children, in Griffith Barracks since 18th June last. She was admitted to Griffith Barracks because she was in need of shelter, following her return from England. I also understand that she has only in the last few days indicated her intention of applying to the Dublin Corporation for housing.
Does the Minister not think that it is a shocking thing that a woman suffering from a serious illness should be accommodated in Griffith Barracks, separated from her husband, and that no proper accommodation is made available for her in what is possibly the short time she has left?
If I were to say anything more I would undoubtedly disclose who the person is but, if the Deputy will come to my office, I will give him some further facts and he will quickly appreciate that he need ask no further questions here.
