35.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state in respect of each of the years 1968-69, 1969-70 and 1970-71, the total amount paid to farmers under the Land Project; and if he will state in respect of each of the years ended 30th June, 1969, 1970 and 1971 the number and value of grants paid to farmers in County Wexford.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it for inclusion in the Official Report.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (1) the amount of money paid by his Department in land project grants in County Wexford in each of the past two financial years, (2) the number of grants paid and (3) the average acreage of each payee.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it for inclusion in the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Could the Minister say if we had a decrease in the amount paid in County Wexford in the three years mentioned in the question?

No. There is quite a short table here which I shall read for the Deputy. The number of farmers involved in 1969 was 485 and the expenditure was £194,824. In the following year, 1970, the number of farmers involved was 562 and the money involved had increased to £225,054. This year the number of farmers involved is 623 and the estimated money involved is £250,443.
