Vol. 255 No. 19

Written Answers. - Allegation of Interference with Mail.

167.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if his attention has been drawn to a statement (details supplied) which was made at a meeting of the Donegal County Council that a person went to a local post office, opened a letter which he read and then had it displayed publicly; and what action will be taken to ensure that the letters in the mail will not be interfered with in the future.

I have seen Press reports of the statement to which the Deputy refers. They do not indicate that there was interference with the mail and I am not aware of any interference with the mail. Accordingly no action by my Department is called for.
