Vol. 255 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Band Engagement.

49.

asked the Minister for Justice the circumstances under which the Garda intervened in relation to the failure of the management of a hotel (name supplied) in County Mayo to pay a fee to a band (name supplied) on the occasion of their visit to the hotel on 18th July, 1971, to fulfil an engagement; if the band was forcibly removed from the hotel; and, if so, why; if he has received a complaint on the matter; and if he will make a statement.

I received a complaint about this matter from the Deputy himself on 23rd July, the same date as notice of this question was received, and it is being investigated.

In what manner does the Minister propose to have the investigation? Does he propose to just ask for statements from the Garda or from the hotel manager?

The appropriate people are being interviewed in connection with the matter.

Does the Minister propose to write to me at an early date so that I will know the result?

Yes, when the investigation is completed I shall write to the Deputy.

Perhaps it will be in order to repeat the question in October if the Minister is still there?

If the investigation is not concluded.
