Written Answers. - Kinsale Bridge.

142.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will approve the recommendation of Cork County Council for an order in respect of the proposed new bridge at Kinsale and sanction the financial proposals to implement the work.

143.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the very dangerous condition of Kinsale metal bridge and the recent restrictions imposed on its use by the Cork County Council, he will sanction the proposals to build a new bridge immediately.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 142 and 143 together.

On the 24th May, 1971, Cork County Council made application to me for a bridge order under section 44 of the Local Government Act, 1946. The application is being examined in accordance with the procedures defined in the Act. In this connection the county council has been requested to submit a preliminary report under a number of headings and this is awaited. The question of a Road Fund grant will be considered when the bridge order application has been decided.
