Vol. 256 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo Building Materials.

32.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has received complaints with regard to the importation of building materials into the Sligo area to the detriment of the employment of approximately 70 members of a firm (name supplied); and if he proposes to take any action to safeguard the employment of these men.

I understand that the local firm who produce goods of the same kind as the imports mentioned are negotiating a grant from the IDA in order to improve their efficiency and competitiveness. The goods in question are already subject to tariff protection.
