Vol. 256 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Increases.

33.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in detail each proposal which came before him since May, 1970, for his approval seeking price increases; and the amount of increases which he has approved in respect of each service or item.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report, a statement showing, in respect of the period 1st October, 1970, to 31st October, 1971, particulars of the increases in prices and charges about which I was notified and to which I raised no objection. This statement does not include details of price increase proposal as submitted to me as I must regard proposals at that stage as confidential. In very many cases the amount of increase to which I agreed was less than sought.

The statement which I propose circulating, and a similar statement furnished in my reply to the Deputy's question on 5th November, 1970, in respect of price increases in the period 9th May, 1970, to 30th September, 1970, together cover the period since May, 1970.

Following is the statement:

STATEMENT showing increases in prices and charges about which the Minister for Industry and Commerce has been notified and to which he raised no objections in the period 1st October,1970 to 31st October, 1971.
