Vol. 257 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bull Testing Station.

22.

asked the Minister for Finance the likely cost of the proposed bull performance testing station at the National Stud farm, Tully, County Kildare; when it is likely to be commenced; and when it is likely to be ready for occupation.

The cost of the proposed performance testing station for beef bulls will be of the order of £65,000. It is hoped to invite tenders for the building work within the next few weeks and, all going well, work should be completed by next September.

Is the Minister aware that the Government first announced their intention to build this station in the Second Programme for Economic Expansion published in 1964 and that there has been a certain degree of tardiness in the actual implementation of their policy in this regard?

I do not agree there has been tardiness.

The Parliamentary Secretary does not agree, but the Government have done nothing since.

It is only seven years.
