Vol. 257 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Estates.

23.

asked the Minister for Lands the date on which the Land Commission first acquired the Willington estate at Shinrone, County Offaly; the reason for the delay in dividing this estate; and when he anticipates it will be divided.

Possession of 415 acres of this 604 acre property passed to the Land Commission in December, 1967. The balance —189 acres—was acquired in March, 1968.

I understand that congestion in the vicinity of these laids is not pressing and priority on the allotment programme has had to be given to areas where the need for land structure reform is more urgent.

Pending completion of the necessary inquiries on the ground, it is not feasible to indicate just now when a scheme for division of these lands can be formulated.

24.

asked the Minister for Lands if the following estates in County Offaly will be divided next spring: (a) the Cash estate, Rathrobin, Tullamore, (b) the Dunne estate, Cloncon, Killeigh, (c) the Hennessy estate, Killooly and (d) the Lambe estate, Roscore.

Composite resale proposals are envisaged for the Cash, Hennessy and Lambe estates, aggregating 140 acres, and it is hoped that allocation can be effected in the coming spring. From the particulars furnished it has not been found possible to identify the Dunne estate referred to by the Deputy.
