Vol. 257 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Medical Examinations.

6.

asked the Minister for Health the total number of national schools and the number in which medical examinations have been completed in respect of eligible children in each of the years 1968, 1969 and 1970.

As the reply to the question is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Year

Total Number of National Schools

Number of Schools Examined under School Medical Service

1968

4,450

1,643

1969

4,295

1,582

1970

4,118

1,699

Can the Minister say whether the number has increased or decreased in each of the past three years?

The number of schools examined increased since 1969 and is slightly ahead of the 1968 figure.
