Vol. 257 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Project Work.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of the long delay between the period of application for land project work and the sanction to proceed after inspection; and if he will take steps to rectify the situation.

The average time lag, over the country as a whole, between the receipt of applications under the ordinary Land Project reclamation scheme and the issue of approved schemes of work is not excessive having regard to the increased volume of reclamation work being done under the project in recent years and the high level of applications. There are, however, a few counties where the time lag is longer than normal. The matter is under review and all feasible steps, within the staff resources available, are being taken to bring about an improvement in the position in the counties concerned.
