Vol. 257 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Price.

55.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state the difference between the new Irish creamery milk price and the corresponding EEC price.

On the basis of the price support structure announced recently and the expected trend in market conditions for dairy products, the estimated average new creamery milk price in Ireland would be of the order of 15p per gallon but, as hitherto, of course, the actual prices paid by creameries to their suppliers will not necessarily be uniform between individual creameries or from month to month. The EEC Target Price for milk in 1971-72 represents 20p per gallon for milk of 3.5 per cent butter-fat content.
