Vol. 257 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killarney School Rationalisation.

69.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed rationalisation of primary school education in Killarney, County Kerry, having regard to the rapid increase in population in the town.

The proposed rationalisation of primary school education in Killarney has been agreed with local interested parties and arrangements are in train for the erection of a new school comprising 14 classrooms and a general purposes room on a site in the Convent of Mercy grounds and a second school comprising ten classrooms and an assembly hall at the eastern side of the town.

The reverend manager has been requested to arrange for his architect to submit sketched plans for the two schools and also to submit evidence of title to the approved sites. The arrangements for the provision of the new school buildings will be expedited as much as possible.
