Vol. 257 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry School Transport Service.

72.

asked the Minister for Education the present position with regard to the provision of a public transport scheme for children attending Knockanes national school in the parish of Glenflesk, County Kerry.

It has been ascertained that the children who are individually eligible for free transport reside in two separate localities in relation to Knockanes NS. Having regard to the distances of their homes from the school and the small number of eligible children in each locality the establishment of a transport service from either locality would not be warranted.

I note that Deputy FitzGerald is still in the House but the other Deputies who made such a furore in relation to community schools all departed once that issue was dealt with.

What is wrong with that?
