Vol. 257 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing.

106.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he would inquire from Kerry County Council when work would start on the erection of four cottages at Laehard, Beaufort, County Kerry.

There are no proposals before my Department for a housing scheme at Laehard, Beaufort, Co. Kerry. Last September I approved a scheme of four houses at Ahane, Beaufort. I am not in a position to say when work in this scheme will be commenced.

107.

asked the Minister for Local Government if Kerry County Council had procured land for the erection of houses at Killorglin, County Kerry.

108.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he had received proposals for a new scheme of workmen's houses at Killorglin. County Kerry and the present position in regard to them.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 107 and 108 together.

Housing authorities do not require my approval to the acquisition of land by agreement for housing schemes.

No proposals for a housing scheme at Killorglin have been submitted to my Department. I understand that the county council have been unsuccessful so far in their efforts to acquire a suitable site for additional houses in Killorglin.

109.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed group housing scheme for Rathmore, County Kerry which was urgently required.

A proposal to build seven houses at Rathmore by direct labour has been submitted to me by Kerry County Council and is being examined. I will give my decision on it shortly.
