Vol. 258 No. 1

Written Answers. - Children's Allowances.

66.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the current comparable weekly rate of children's allowances paid to a family of three children in the Republic, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

Children's allowances under the Children's Allowances Acts are paid on a monthly not a weekly basis. The monthly rate in respect of a family of three qualified children is £4.25. The comparable monthly rate of family allowances payable under Northern Ireland and Great Britain legislation is understood to be £8.23.
