Vol. 259 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fertiliser Dumping.

20.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in relation to what fertiliser or compound of fertilisers An Coimisiún Dumpála is making investigations initiated on 5th November, 1971.

On 5th November, 1971 An Coimisiún Dumpála initiated inquiries into imports during the 1971 fertiliser season of the following intermediary materials which are subject to further manufacturing processes in this country: double granular superphosphate 16.6 per cent, monammonium phosphate and a range of base materials in various proportions of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and boron. These materials emerge after processing as complete concentrated fertilisers (c.c.fs.).

Would the Minister tell me if the potential purchasers of this alleged dumped material were fertiliser manufactures within this country?

Of course, the question of investigation presumably would not arise unless it was sought to import them.

Would the Minister say if the material which was alleged to have been dumped was being imported for further manufacture or for sale direct to the farmers?

No; I gather it was for further manufacture.
