Vol. 259 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Water Scheme.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the present position in regard to a water supply scheme for Moneygall village, Moneygall, Birr, County Offaly; (b) how the present supply is being worked; if the pumps are satisfactory; and the year in which they were first installed; (c) if the machinery when first installed was new at the time; (d) if the pumps are at present connected to the ESB supply and, if so, when the ESB supply was connected; and (e) if he has any plans for improving the water supply in the village.

The provision and maintenance of a public water supply are matters primarily for the local authority concerned.

The detailed information which the Deputy requires regarding the existing supply in Moneygall is not available in my Department and there are no proposals before me for the improvement of the supply.
