I would refer the Deputy to chapter 15 of the white paper on Local Government Reorganisation.
Can the Minister not tell us when this report will be available? We have been given the same answer on numerous occasions but this committee has been sitting for four or five years.
When I was replying to my Supplementary Estimate this afternoon I gave an indication to the House that the preparation of the white paper on local government finance and taxation was in its final stages and that I was as anxious as anyone else to have it published so that the public would know the intentions and recommendations of the Government in relation to any changes in the existing rating system.
Does the Minister envisage any changes?
I have given the Deputy a reasonable and full answer. It is unreasonable of him to expect me to go further now. We must wait for the final document.
