Vol. 259 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Under-Age Drinkers.

53.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is satisfied that the laws with regard to the presence of under-age persons in publichouses is being strictly alhered to; if he is aware of any instances whereby children have been served with alcoholic beverages; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my replies to Parliamentary Questions on this subject on 9th June, 1970 (No. 21), 5th August, 1971 (Nos. 44 to 47) and 4th November, 1971 (Nos. 115 and 116).

Would the Minister consider giving instructions to the Garda where they see what they presume to be under-age persons under the influence of alcohol that they should attempt to find out where the alcohol was purchased, and take steps to deal with the matter?

They do that as a matter of course.

That has not been my experience.

I will remind them about it.
