Vol. 259 No. 15

Business of Dáil.

I want to inform Deputies that in accordance with the usual practice on the last day of a sitting that in regard to Questions not reached by 2 p.m. the answers will be given in the Official Report unless Deputies otherwise indicate that they want written replies today.

On a point of order, may I ask you on what basis you regard part of Question No. 1 as being in order, that is the words "as clarification is necessary"? May I point out to you, with due respect, that when I put in Questions and use that particular phrase, asking Ministers to clarify and saying the clarification was necessary, you have regarded such Questions as being hypothetical and argumentative. You have immediately ruled them out of order. May I ask, therefore, if this applies to the Question by Deputy O'Leary on behalf of the Taoiseach?

The Deputy was informed of the reasons why the Question was changed. That is the usual procedure.

It is out of order on the basis of your previous ruling.
