asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of money expended by his Department on the improvement of small fishing harbours during the past financial year; and the details of such improvements.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report statements giving details of the amount spent by the Office of Public Works on minor marine works in 1971-72 and financed out of subheads E and J of Vote 8 and subhead E (3) of Vote 36.

It runs at about £100,000 in each subhead.

Yes, but I should like to enlarge on that slightly. There were some savings made under Marine Works this year through lack of engineering staff.

That is a nice way of putting it.
